Hunting
will be done in a variety methods ranging from sitting, spotting,
stalking, working ridges and valleys depending on the game we
are hunting, the weather, feeding habits, feed availability location
and hunter participation. We have had young and old, first time
and veteran hunters, varying in skills and age, as well as disabled
hunters.
Transportation
while hunting will be mostly on foot as our lodge and camp are
located in prime hunting areas. Vehicles will be used only to
transport from one area to another. No road hunting permitted!
It may be possible to use horses depending on guide and experience
as well as game movements. If you wish to bring your own horses,
we will be willing to make arrangements.
After
game has been tagged, we will pack it out with whatever methods
are needed. We may use horses, mules, foot power, ATV or 4-wheel
drive pickup all depending on the conditions and location of the
kill. We will assist you in animal care. Although, after the game
has been retrieved to the camp or lodge the meat care, quality
and cost are entirely up to you.
DEER
HUNTING:
We
have taken a number of very nice deer from our place. The big
ones are not always easy to come by and thye have learned to be
very elusive. This makes for a great and challenging hunt. Both
whitetail deer and mule tail deer can be hunted in equal ratios.
In most cases you can find whitetail and mule deer in the same
areas.
TURKEY
HUNTING:
We normally run 75- 100% success spring and fall. We usually take
on 12- 15 hunters for both the spring and fall seasons with no
more than six hunters in camp at one time. On our ranch, we have
175- 200 birds that winter with our cattle. These are wild birds
that spread out over our entire range in spring and then congregate
in the fall. The average bird has a 6- 10 inch beard and weighs
around 18 pounds. Birds have been taken that weigh 26 pounds and
have 11 inch beards.
As
guides we can only put you where we feel and/or have seen the
animals move. They may not go where they went the day or week
before. Hunter skills also come into play as there are things
we cannot control. We will do our best to help you have a memorable,
and most of all successful trip.
